You'd think that just about everyone in the entire world knows who John Mayer is. Heck, even John Mayer himself thought so. But apparently, former Live! with Regis and Kelly host, Regis Philbin, is a little in the dark about the oh, so famous Grammy award winner and ex of Katy Perry.
Courtesy of TMZ, the below footage shows Mayer alongside famed comedian and Full House star Bob Saget outside of a Los Angeles eatery talking with both Philbin and his wife, Joy. The couple are obvious friends of Sagets, but when Mayer shakes hands with Philbin, saying, "I don't know that we've ever met. I'm John," the lively personality looks rather confused, or star stuck, but we think confused is more accurate.
Why would we meet –– I'm Regis Philbin! is what we're imagining the host was thinking.
Luckily, Saget comes to the rescue, saying the person he's meeting is John Mayer. Afterwards, Philbin drifts back to reality, stating, "the John Mayer?" –– Looks like his confusion may have then morphed into being star struck ... maybe.
Mayer took the encounter rather modestly, yet, perhaps a little embarrassed. After all, can you blame him? The gossip site's photog did have the camera pointed directly at the musician.
