Kanye West's dad is battling prostate cancer. Because of this, Kanye has decided to cancel some of his shows so he could be with his father.
Ray West had been initially rumored to be battling with stomach cancer, but TMZ clarified that he is dealing with prostate cancer. He is receiving treatment at a hospital in Los Angeles, and he is responding well to medications.
Kanye West's Health Problems
Kim Kardashian's husband has also faced some health issues. He recently revealed that he has been diagnosed with a mental condition and contemplated suicide. Kanye was also taken to an emergency room with his wife after he had suffered from the flu.
On his Twitter account, Kanye has been updating his fans with his health issues.
"I had a sinus headache on a flight once and I got a f****** cat scan after because it was so bad," wrote Kanye.
Kanye West's Parents
Kanye's mom, Donda, who had a closer relationship with the rapper, died more than 10 years ago. She and Ray divorced when Kanye was still very young. However, the ex-couple maintained an amicable relationship with each other. Kanye previously attributed his mental breakdown to his mom's demise.
The rapper has also mentioned his parents in some of his songs. On The Life of Pablo, Kanye released a track called "Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1." Following the release of the song, West said that he had cried while writing the lyrics to the track. He also declared that he loves his dad so much.
In the same song, Kanye hinted at his parents' split. He said that Ray and Donda decided to end things because of financial problems. In 2007, Kanye also released the song, "Champion," from his Graduation album. The track was also featured in the movie The Pursuit of Happyness.
"Champion" also centered on Kanye's dad, as well as the financial struggles his family faced. Despite all this, Ray still tried to make ends meet for his children. Ray used to work as a journalist for the Atlanta Constitution-Journal.
