In a recent interview on The Howard Stern Show, Katy Perry revealed the reason behind declaring a truce with Taylor Swift after their five-year feud.
According to Mirror, when Katy Perry spoke to Howard Stern, the "Roar" singer said that she hopes that their experience will be a good example to young women. "Gossip and lies, they take the elevator. But truth takes the stairs... time will tell my story," Perry pointed out.
The "Firework" hitmaker continued saying that what she is so grateful for is that she and Taylor Swift did get to make up, and they did it publicly to be an example of redemption. Katy also explained, during their feud, they were young girls, growing up with cliques. But now, they are super friendly and want the best for each other. This allegedly started when Katy dated John Mayer, whom Taylor also dated two years prior. But according to Mirror, the pop stars finally drifted apart in 2013 after Taylor Swift accused Katy Perry of stealing backing dancers from her "Red" tour. The stealing issue was confirmed by Taylor's 2014 tweet. In 2018, after a series of public spats and even revenge songs (Katy's "Swish Swish" and and Taylor's "Bad Blood"), the truce began when the "Last Friday Night" singer sent an olive branch and apology letter to Taylor Swift. Perry admitted that she had been "deeply sorry" for all the drama between them, as per the report. "Hey, old friend, I've been reflecting on past miscommunications and the hurt feelings between us," written in the letter. [WATCH] The "Dark Horse" singer recently joked about the speculations that she and Taylor are cousins, as per Daily Mail. When Katy was asked about the bizarre rumor, she answered that they fight like cousins. Taylor revealed that she and Katy have been talking about zodiac signs. In fact, they blamed their signs for their feud, according to Daily Mail. "... of course we were ... We talked about our signs because we had this long talk when we were reconnecting and stuff," the "Lover" singer said.
