It was just last May 21 when BTS released their latest single "Butter". Now on June 14 rankings, Billboard revealed that it's the first BTS song ever to spend three consecutive weeks on the top 1 position in Billboard Hot 100 chart rankings. As reported by Showbiz Cheatsheet, this has marked history for the group and also for the whole Korean Pop industry. 

BTS' 'Butter' Brings New Generation of Success for Group

Despite the group's significant success with 'Butter', it isn't the first song that has hit no. 1 on the acclaimed rankings. The song is the fourth song of the group to reach no. 1 on the charts. BTS has also received this achievement with their previous songs such as "Dynamite", "Life Goes On", and "Savage Love (Laxed-Siren Beat)" featuring Jason Derulo and Jawsh 685. 

In a statement by Billboard, they said that "BTS' new single drew 15.4 million U.S. streams, down 19%, and sold 138,400 downloads, down 1%, in the week ending June 10, according to MRC Data. It also attracted 24.6 million radio airplay audience impressions, up 10%, in the week ending June 13."

This has been the highest record for the South Korean boy group. The song "Dynamite" has also spent two weeks on  the top spot last September 2020. But their new hit song has set the new record for the group. "Butter" actually sets a history for the group since it's the group's first English singe. So far, they haven't released any news yet on their next English single.

BTS and Olivia Rodrigo Lead Billboard Charts, Says a Lot About New Era Music

As for the second spot after "Butter", Olivia Rodrigo's "Good 4 U" has made it on the list for Billboard Hot 100. As told by Billboard, "Butter" and "Good 4 U", have been the first set of songs that have ranked along side each other for three consecutive weeks now. This marks history for this era's music taste. 

Both of the music are very genuine to the artists, however versatile to suit many audiences. Although very different in genre, both have a very wide base of fandom that have supported them all the way. BTS has recently made history with their very popular "BTS Meal" featured in a well-known food chain McDonalds. Due to their immense popularity, many food branches have been forced to close. 

"Dynamite" has had immense success before butter. However, their newest ever English language single "Butter" has gained international praise and recognition since its release. For that reason, their song "Butter" has been shaping BTS' greatest season of their success not only for South Korea but also for the international market.
