As it turns out, Miley Cyrus' homeless 2014 MTV VMAs date Jesse Helt was no angel... yesterday (Aug. 26), media reports surfaced that Helt had a warrant out for his arrest due to several probation violations. After attention turned toward Helt's rap sheet instead of Cyrus' new passion for charity or My Friend's Place, the Bangerz singer lashed out at the media on Twitter.

Helt's criminal record is relatively lengthy. He is wanted in Oregon for probation violations, including failure to take a drug test, failure to report to a probation officer, failure to fulfill community service and more. His probation stems from a variety of crimes, including burglary, criminal trespassing and criminal mischief.

But Cyrus is not happy about the media's focus on the results of the homeless lifestyle and instead wants people to concentrate on the issue at hand.

Cyrus cited the struggles of homeless youth, including Helt, in her series of tweets, hoping to turn media attention back toward her newfound cause to eradicate homelessness.

"People who are homeless have lived very hard lives. Jesse included," Cyrus tweeted in multiple posts. "I hope that this can be the start of a national conversation about youth homelessness and how to end it. Does looking down upon the homeless help people excuse their inaction?"

Cyrus then emphasized a contest she's currently holding. For every $5 fans donates to Los Angeles homeless shelter My Friend's Place, they'll be entered into a contest to fly to Rio de Janeiro, meet Cyrus and attend her Sept. 28 Bangerz Tour concert as a VIP.
