    'Tis the season for everything holly and jolly, especially when it comes to the radio airwaves and shopping mall stereos. PlayNetwork, the company that compiles in-store playlists for over 400 brands, has shared a list of the top 20 songs that will be on repeat in stores all holiday season long. After dominating the No. 1 spot on PlayNetwork's list every year since 1994, Mariah Carey's classic, "All I Want for Christmas," has been ousted by The Shins' cover of Sir Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime."
  • Deadmau5 Sneaks Out of Hospital, Hops Plane to Play Miami Show

    Canadian progressive-house producer/DJ Deadmau5, born Joel Zimmerman, was hospitalized Thursday due to a case of severely swollen lymph nodes, EDM Sauce reports. But in under a day the artist broke doctor's orders -- which, based on the producer's social media accounts, included an IV, a sonogram and some other tests in addition to bedrest -- by sneaking out and hopping on a plane to Miami, arriving just in time to throw down at a Red Bull Music Academy gig held at The Fillmore.

    French producer Mr. Oizo, aka Quentin Dupieux, has returned with a new EP titled Hand in the Fire. The four-track release features British singer-songwriter Charli XCX on the title song, two solo tracks and an instrumental version of "Hand in the Fire."     Feminist academic and curmudgeon critic Camille Paglia has penned yet another criticism of pop icon Taylor Swift, this time taking on the artist's Girl Squad. In the treatise, Paglia says Taylor's squad is a "tittering, tongues-out mugging" posse that does the opposite of empower females due to the presentation of a "silly, regressive public image." "Swift herself," she adds, "should retire that obnoxious Nazi Barbie routine of wheeling out friends and celebrities as performance props."

    Sleater-Kinney served up some top shelf holiday cheer to the crowd at Cleveland's House of Blues the other night when they covered Ramones' "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight)" during a stop on their tour in support of this year's 'No Cities to Love'. As AV Club reports, they kicked-off their encore with the song. Carrie Brownstein in particular looks like she's having a blast with the Joey Ramone-penned holiday cult classic. However, before fans could rejoice over finally seeing the Harlem-born princess of rap in the headlines for what she does best, the Broke With Expensive Taste star managed to find time to blast Donald Trump and share her feelings about Lil Kim, Diana Ross and others on Twitter.

The project features new tracks with Frisco, Giggs, Bonkaz and Novelist, and was released Chase & Status' own label, MTA Records.

    Former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant have teamed-up with the British Red Cross for a charity album that aims to shine the spotlight on real-life experiences of refugees and asylum seekers in the U.K. and around the world, while also raising funds for the cause. The album, entitled 'The Long Road', also features tracks from Tinariwen, Kindness, Scroobius Pip and the Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars and is being produced by Ethan Johns. 'The Long Road' is due out March 4 2016 and is available for pre-order this week.
  • Sigur Rós Members Produce Talking Dog Movie ‘3 Dogateers Save Christmas’

    Georg Holm and Orri Dyrason, the bassist and drummer for Sigur Rós, produced 2014's holiday-themed family film The Three Dogateers Save Christmas in which three talking dogs save Christmas from burglars much like Macaulay Culkin did in Home Alone 25 years ago. The movie's tagline is "Christmas just went to the dogs," so it's no surprise it's just one part of what turns out to be an entire Dogateer franchise--Jurassic Bark is in the works and Indiana Bones might actually turn out to be a thing.     Bassnectar, the moniker of electronic producer/DJ Lorin Ashton, has announced a Willy Wonka-themed golden ticket giveaway as he rolls out his first batch of delicious-looking organic Bassnectar chocolate. Initially, the producer's announcement declared that winners would receive "free weekend admission to next year's 'Bass Center 2016' (2 full weekend VIP passes, plus camping)," Your EDM reports, although anything hinting at camping has since been erased from all internet sources.

    Sleigh Bells have surprise-released the first taste of their forthcoming fourth album, a new song entitled "Champions of Unrestricted Beauty." The Brooklyn-based noise pop duo of Alexis Krauss and Derek Edward Miller tweeted "We are finishing up our record, didn't want to wait" when they first dropped the song; a few hours later they self-released a video in which they set a bunch of balloons on fire.
