• Jury Selection Begins in Trial of Marathon Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

Potential jurors first came face to face with Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in court this morning, Jan. 5. Within the next three days as many as 1,200 people will be called into federal court to be viewed as potential jurors. Only 12 jurors and six alternates are needed, but it will likely take a deep pool to find that many people have not already formed an opinion on Tsarnaev's involvement in the twin bombing and events shortly thereafter on April 15, 2013, which resulted in three deaths and injuries to 260 people. According to Yahoo News, Monday begins what will likely be a gruesome and difficult trial that will last for months. It was also only the second time in 18 months that Tsarnaev has seen the light of day. "Appearing in court Monday morning for only the second time in 18 months, Tsarnaev, with a short beard and shaggy hair, was seated in front of the first 200 of 1,200 prospective jurors in the case who quietly stared at the suspected bomber as presiding Judge George O'Toole explained the selection process," said Yahoo. "O'Toole told the jurors the trial is tentatively scheduled to begin Jan. 26 and is expected to last three to four months. As he spoke, Tsarnaev, who was dressed in khaki pants and dark sweater, stared mostly at the table, looking up occasionally at the judge and out towards the prospective jurors. He could be seen drumming his fingers on his chair underneath the table," said Yahoo.
  • It Looks Like Charles Manson Has Married Afton Burton, 26

Charles Manson may be serving a life sentence in a California prison for being the ringleader of a cult and ultimately responsible for the deaths of seven people, but that has not stopped him from apparently getting married. Afton Burton is a 26-year-old woman who became obsessed with the mass-murderer while still a teenager. She eventually left her home in Illinois in order to reside near him in California and spends her days working on ways to try and secure Manson's freedom. The couple recently filed for a marriage license and just yesterday Burton was spotted wearing what looks like a plain wedding band. After applying for their license, Manson and Afton had 90 days to carry out an actual wedding ceremony, but they were at the mercy of the prison. It would have to either be on one of Manson's regular visiting days or else a holiday such as Thanksgiving. There is no confirmation that the couple actually exchanged vows, but the ring was not on Burton's finger before this weekend, which makes things a bit more interesting.
  • Afton Burton's Mom Won't Attend Daughter's Wedding to Charles Manson

Charles Manson has been in the news this week, and for once it has nothing to do with his case. In fact, he is not even eligible for parole again until 2027, and by then he will be 97. That has not stopped 26-year-old Afton "Star" Burton from deciding to marry him, though. Not only did she apply for a marriage license on their behalf earlier this month, according to CNN, but she has considered herself Manson's wife for years. Burton left her home in Illinois at 19 in order to live in Corcoran, California, where Manson is incarcerated following his conviction in masterminding a mass murder that left seven dead in 1969. She currently runs several websites in support of Manson's innocence. According to Burton's mother, Melissa Burton, the couple appears to love each other and they do take care of each other. She claims Manson's work from behind bars with environmental issues is what drew her daughter to him in the first place. Melissa believes her daughter is smart and, after growing to love Manson, is following her heart. That does not mean Melissa has any intention of attending her daughter's wedding, though. Under California prison rules, up to 10 people from the outside world can be present for the jailhouse nuptials, but she will not be one of them. No official date has been set yet and Burton has confirmed they will need to marry on a regular visitation day.
  • Will 'The Blacklist' Crash And Burn Like Several Other Hotly Anticipated Shows Have?

We are only two weeks into the new fall season and already fans are weighing in on what shows are clicking- and what ones need to get it together quickly. At this time last season all eyes were glued to The Blacklist. James Spader seems unable to do any wrong while onscreen and his ingenious way of bringing Ray Reddington to life had instant fans begging for more. Throughout the season so many questions went unanswered which was cool for viewers' who love a slow build up as long as there is a pay off in the end. Unfortunately, creeping into season two something feels very off to fans. It's not the kind of thing that you can put your finger on either, it's just not working as well it seems.
