The Berlin edition of Lollapalooza, set to take place in September, has recently announced its lineup. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Sam Smith and Run the Jewels will perform in addition to Fatboy Slim, My Morning Jacket and The Libertines. One remaining headliner has yet to be announced for the inaugural concert event, 'Billboard' noted.
  • Seattle vs. New England: Spotify Compares and Contrasts Music Listening in Super Bowl Competitiors' Hometowns

Music Times made an attempt several weeks ago to predict the winner of the Super Bowl based on quality of albums coming out of the regions represented in the AFC and NFC Championship Games. So far so good: Seattle is facing New England, as we predicted, but will the Seahawks triumph? Who knows? Not Spotify. The music streaming service did use its numbers-tracking technology to create two playlists of songs representing the performers that listeners in the respective regions listen in far greater numbers than their foes on the opposite coast.
  • Sasquatch! Music Festival Announces 2015 Festival Dates

Taking place over four days, the festival will now plant its flag again in the beautiful outdoor setting of the Gorge Amphitheatre between May 22nd and May 25th. • Macklemore Concerns and Confuses with Potentially Anti-Semitic Costume

If we asked you to guess the rapper who was accused of Anti-Semitism during the last 24 hours, we doubt that Macklemore would have been your first choice, especially after his roles in promoting equality and gay rights. And yet that's exactly what happened after a show at the Experience Music Project Museum in the rapper's hometown of Seattle.
  • Music Times Presents: 'The Guise to Not Pissing Lord Jamar Off'

Lord Jamar is disgusted with what he sees on a daily basis from the hip-hop world. The emcee and member of the Brand Nubians is better known for headstrong condemnations of trends in hip-hop, versus his actual music. Jamar typically lashes out at any signs of new thought in rap music, making him somewhat the Newt Gingrich of the genre...the grand poobah (pun intended) of conservative rap culture. If you're an up-and-coming rapper, Music Times has compiled a short lists of things to avoid lest you piss off Jamar.
  • Billboard's Hot Rap Songs Chart Celebrates 25th Annivesary

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart, and the publication has compiled a list of the Top 100 songs ever to grace it. This isn't a ranking system based on the opinions of critics. It actually takes every rap track that's appeared on the Hot Rap Songs chart and assigns scores based on number of weeks on the chart at at which position the song placed.
  • Macklemore Apologizes to Kendrick Lamar

All the hip kids are already lashing out at Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for their four-trophy night at The Grammys. The most popular argument is that Kendrick Lamar didn't win an award, and Macklemore won four, so therefore it's Macklemore's fault that Lamar didn't win a Grammy. Blaming the Seattle rapper for the decisions of the Grammy committee seems unfair, but Macklemore seems to agree with the logic. Or at least he sent a text message to Lamar apologizing for the results.
  • Macklemore and Ryan Lewis Nearly Blocked from Rap Categories at Grammys

The Grammys supposedly exist to honor the best music from the previous year, but no one would be surprised to find out that politics were involved. A blatant, and frustrating, discussion of musical politics went on behind the scenes of this year's Best Rap Album award, and with other rap awards involving hip-hop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. According to reports, voters on the rap committee attempted to exclude the group from the hip-hop categories based on its widespread popularity.
