Mikal Cronin has released his touring schedule for this Spring/Summer/Fall and he'll be spreading his time between headlining gigs, festival stops, and opening sets for performers including Death Cab For Cutie, Father John Misty and the Cairo Gang. The guitar-centric alt rocker will stay in Europe until early June before returning home to play festivals such as FYF Fest and Bumbershoot over the summer. His new album, 'MCIII,' was released last week. -
Kristen Schaal, Mikal Cronin Remake Natalie Imbruglia's 'Torn' Music Video Shot for Shot [WATCH]
It seems like remaking music videos from the 1990s is all the rage this week. Jack Black and Jimmy Fallon did it, and now so have Kristen Schaal and Mikal Cronin. Yesterday (May 5), the Last Man on Earth actress and the indie rock singer teamed up) and remade Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn" music video shot by show for Cronin's new single "Turn Around." -
Mikal Cronin New Music and Tour: Rocker Releases New Song and Announces Album 'MKIII' [Look & Listen]
Mikal Cronin may not exactly be the same kind of guitar-centric act as Led Zeppelin but the Laguna Beach rocker sure takes a clue from Jimmy page and co. when it comes to naming his albums: He just announced the release of his third LP, MKIII. That follows in the footsteps of 2013's excellent MKII and his 2011 debut Mikal Cronin. At least his album art is evolving along the way. MKII only featured a photo of clouds while MKIII features an ink-wash (which kind of looks like clouds?) and the performer's glum-looking face. -
Ryan Book's Playlist of 2013: Lorde, Kanye, and Kvelertak
Music Times, like so many other music publications, was looking to publish a "Best of 2013" playlist. We met to discuss what such a playlist should include, and that's where we ran into trouble. We couldn't agree. Sometimes two of us just couldn't agree on whether the performer was amazing or terrible, and even when we agreed they were amazing, we couldn't agree on what track was most representative of their work. Hence it was decided that rather than try to agree (a seemingly impossible endeavor), everyone would get their own "favorites of 2013" playlist. We won't argue that these are neccesarily the best tracks of the last year, but they're definitely songs that caught our respective attention and caused us to hit 'repeat" over and over and over again
