As previously reported, Trent Reznor was pretty upset that the Grammy award organizers cut short his star-studded closing performance with Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, Lindsey Buckingham to air commercials from sponsors. He tweeted, "Music's biggest night...to be disrespected. A heartfelt F*** YOU guys."
Grammys Executive Producer Keith Ehrlich heard Reznor loud and clear and addressed the situation in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
"I'm sorry he was upset. I was really thrilled that we were finally getting him on the Grammys," he told them. "The final jam started with Arcade Fire a few years ago, and LL Cool J last year. I want to end on a high, an up note. I did tell them we'd take it as long as we could. The number was about five, six minutes long, and we got to within a minute twenty of the end. We got as close as we could possibly get."
Ehrlich also talked about Jay Z getting him wasted on cognac, seeing Daft Punk without their helmets, the planning behind the "Same Love" wedding extravaganza, why no same-sex kisses were aired and what he thinks of this year's ratings.
