A suspect in the April shooting of Lil Wayne's tour bus has been arrested and according to reports, he may be linked to Young Thug.

As noted in an Instagram post by Baller Alert, the alleged shooter, Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, targeted the Young Money rapper for street cred. TMZ also reports that Winfrey was looking to elevate his status as a Blood by, "committing a high profile shooting of a rival rap artist."

Sources have indicated that Winfrey has acted as Young Thug's road manager. Winfrey was arrested on May 21 and has been charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of a firearm by a felon and criminal gang activity. He has previously been arrested for drug possession in Florida.

As previously reported, Lil Wayne's tour bus was shot during the early morning of April 26 after a concert at an Atlanta nightclub. Local reports and Cobb police say the bus was shot at, but no bullets managed to strike the vehicle.

Ironically, Young Thug performed in Baton Rouge at Southern University on April 25, where he was met with boos and "Hollygrove" chants from the crowd.

The two rappers have been at odds for some time now, initially stemming from a beef with Birdman's Cash Money Records and Thug's decision to move forward with the Carter 6 name for his project.

Last September, Young Thug shocked fans when he announced that he wanted to continue Wayne's Tha Carter series after it was reported that Tha Carter V would be his last solo album.

Thug has kept the controversy going, recently announcing that he would in fact name his new mixtape Carter V.
