With little sunlight left in the sky, Omarion opened Hot 97's annual concert Summer Jam around 6:30 p.m. and as the spotty crowd arrived, the former B2K member- turned-Love and Hip Hop Hollywood reality star warmed the crowd up to his old and new hits with MMG. Although, still mellow, the crowd quickly turned their moods way up once he began performing "Post To Be" and decided to play Jhene Aiko's verse just for his female fans, who burst out with her signature line, "eat the booty like groceries," before ending his set with his newest single, "I'm that N*gga."
As the stage cleared for a brief intermission, the DJ introduces Taylor Gang's own Ty Dolla $ign, who appeared solo on the stage and blasts into his set with his verse to Wiz Khalifa's hit song "You And Your Friends" before diving into a snippet of Jeremih's "Don't Tell 'Em."
After a few tracks, Ty surprises the crowd with 2015 XXL freshman Dej Loaf, who pops up onstage looking far from a novice with her smash hit "Try Me." Rocking a black skirt, a black leather jacket and her signature big black shades, she rapped effortlessly to the song that made her famous. Immediately after, Ty gave fans one last surprise as "We Dem Boyz" blasted through the speakers and Pittsburgh native Wiz Khalifa graced the stage with his blunt sparked and a huge smoke cloud trail behind him. After the back-and-forth rap performance, all fans were on their feet as they transitioned to Ty's single "Or Nah" and before you know it, the freshly single rap star revealed his ink-filled chest asking females, "All these tattoos in my skin they turn you on?" as the pair wrapped up their slot.
Keeping a steady wave of excitement, the stage cleared and all eyes were focused on growling sounds coming from the center of the arena where legendary DJ Funkmaster Flex hit the 1's and 2's, bringing cheers from the New York/New Jersey fans. The proud New York native played old and current radio hits from Brooklyn's own Jay Z and Biggie Smalls as well as some hits from rap group G-Unit before transitioning for Southern sounds from Waka Flocka Flame and DJ Khaled. The DJ then drove thrilled fans right back up 95 North, sending concertgoers out of their seats to Shmoney dance as he blasted Bobby Shmurda's 2014 hit "Hot N*gga."
As the brief party session wrapped up, Ebro in The Morning show hosts Peter Rosenberg, Ebro and Laura Stylez appeared on the stadium stage to introduce R&B star, Trey Songz who switched up from uptempo beats to his sexual, slow grinding hits.
Purple lights blazed from the stage onto the crowd while the first guitar strum led into "Slow Motion." Some fans grew envious as Trey seductively danced with his female background dancers, who managed to twist and bend their bodies like contortionists. Towards the end of the song, the stage lights turned aqua blue as he belted out "Dive In" still keeping fans on a classic R&B euphoric vibe. He appeared sweaty but still looked refreshed as he maintained a strong vocal ability, ending his song with a high note, leaving his fans mesmerized.
