It's been a long time since Justin Bieber released a new solo single, but now an official countdown is finally here. Today (July 29), the "Where Are U Now" singer announced that his new song "What Do You Mean?" has a release date... and it's just a month away.

Bieber appeared on On Air with Ryan Seacrest to make the big announcement, that his new single is just 30 days away, and both he and Ryan Seacrest are aiming for fans to start those countdown clocks. "What Do You Mean?" will be released on Aug. 28.

Bieber revealed that "What Do You Mean?" will be uptempo, with a "fun" and "summery" sound. The 21-year-old pop star also noted that the song was produced by Jason "Pooh Bear" Boyd and takes on his confusing relationships with women.

"Girls are often flip-floppy. They say something, and then they mean something else," Bieber said about the topic of the new single. "What do you mean? ... I don't really know, that's why I'm asking."

Bieber has been hard at work on his new album and admitted that sometimes the writing and recording process gets to him. "I've been working a lot in the studio, just trying to have a consistent sound, a cohesive sound," Bieber said. "I had a rough week last week. I get in my head sometimes, and sometimes I just don't want to to get out of bed."

The new single is presumably leading up to Bieber's next studio album. His last effort Believe was released in 2012.
