Word on the Web is Vivica A. Fox is the latest to join the cast of Empire. According to reports, Fox will appear as Cookie's sister during season 2 of the series.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Fox will make an appearance as the oldest sister of Cookie, played by Taraji P. Henson.

Earlier this year, Fox, best known for her roles in films like Set It Off, Soul Food and Kill Bill, was fired from presidential candidate Donald Trump's Celebrity Apprentice. EW notes that Fox’s character comes to Empire in search of her younger sister for reasons unknown.

“Cookie’s other family members are troublesome to say the least,” executive producer Ilene Chaiken explained to the outlet.

Last season, Tyler Perry actress Tasha Smith popped up on the show as Cookie's sister Carol. With the addition of more of Cookie's family members, co-creator Lee Daniels could very well be testing the waters for a spin-off showcasing Cookie’s family when she was younger.

As previously reported, Kelly Rowland is set to appear as the mother of Lucious, played by Terrance Howard, in a flashback scene. Other guest stars include Lenny Kravitz, Alicia Keys and Chris Rock. Daniels previously confirmed that he has written roles for dream guest-star, Oprah Winfrey, and Oscar-winner, Common.

Despite the seemingly continuous addition of celebrity roles on the show, Daniels asserted that he does not want the show's guest stars to overshadow the primary plot.

"I find that the more celebrities, the more stars I put on this show, the more it takes away from the family," Daniels said, referencing the Lyon clan. "The family, the family, the family is the most important thing."

This season of Empire will expand to 18 episodes from season one's modest 12, structured in two halves with a major cliffhanger between.

Season 2 of Empire premieres Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
