Outkast may have made its big comeback with its slated 40 date festival tour but Andre 3000 has built a name for himself as an actor and the world will finally be able to see him on the big screen again as iconic guitarist Jimi Hendrix.

As reported by Vibe, the Jimi Hendrix biopic All Is By My Side is set to be released on June 13 and August 8 in the UK.

Back in February, MStars reported that the biopic was slated to make its U.S. debut at SXSW.

"For me personally, going into telling the story, we wanted to not treat Jimi as just another icon," said John Ridley, who wrote and directed the film during a Q&A session at the SXSW premier. "For me personally, for this story to be relevant, it's got to be informative. ... This individual and all the individuals (in the film) are people, and people are complex. And rather than skim the surface of that, this story deserved two hours to see all of that, rather than to just have exactly what people know, exactly what they expect, and they walk away with nothing new."

Ridley, who also wrote the screenplay for 12 Years a Slave, says he came up with the story eight years ago after hearing Hendrix's "Sending My Love to Linda."

The film will highlight Hendrix's life from his start as a New York City backing musician to the time right before his performance at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967.
