On Sunday (Dec. 20), comedian Steve Harvey hosted the Miss Universe 2015 pageant at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, but the ending to the annual ceremony was anything but funny. Harvey committed the cardinal sin of pageant hosting when he announced the wrong winner of the 2015 title. Although he has since apologized, viewers went nuts over his mistake, generating hilarious memes and mixed Twitter reactions.

It came down to three final contestants: Miss USA, Olivia Jordan, Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez-Arévalo, and Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. Jordan was named second runner up and that's when everything went down hill.

What will probably go down as the shortest win in pageant history, Harvey announced Miss Colombia as this year's Miss Universe. After graciously being crowned and welcomed with applause, an awkward silence soon filled the room as the 58-year-old host walked nervously back to the center of the stage.

Miss Colombia could only bask in the special moment for about three minutes before Harvey apologized for making such a huge blunder. You'd think the popular Family Feud host would be a pro at announcing correct answers. He later revealed Miss Colombia was actually the first runner up, making Miss Philippines the real Miss Universe 2015.

The camera quickly aimed its vision on Wurtzbach to catch her shocked reaction. In an uncomfortable exchange, the crown and sash were taken from Miss Colombia and given to its rightful owner.

Harvey took full responsibility for reading his note card wrong. Feeling the need to further share his sympathy and apologies to the world, he took to his personal Twitter account to express himself. Unfortunately, he dug himself into a deeper hole when he incorrectly spelled Philippines and Colombia. The tweet has since been deleted and corrected.
