Meek Mill will have to forgo a New Year's Eve performance with girlfriend Nicki Minaj following a court appearance. He was slated to perform with Minaj at Drai's Nightclub at The Cromwell in Las Vegas but instead will be at home doing community service. Mill was found guilty in court of probation violation from an old drug and gun conviction dating back to 2009.
The Philadelphia judge ruled earlier this month that he is not to be involved with either work or performances until his hearing on Feb. 5. The ruling stemmed from Mill's non-compliance with restrictions, including travel, that were previously mandated by the court.
Minaj had spoke at a parole hearing on his behalf and said, "He's not perfect, but I can't believe how much he has changed," in an effort to help her boyfriend.
"Following the recent Pennsylvania court ruling, Meek Mill's scheduled New Year's Eve performance at Drai's Nightclub at The Cromwell in Las Vegas has been postponed until further notice," a Drai representative said to Billboard via email. "Headliner Nicki Minaj, who is also slated to appear that evening, will perform as scheduled."
Mill has also had a widely publicized beef with Drake this year, which was recently reignited with a clip of a new song from his Dreamchasers 4 mixtape shared on Youtube. The 11-second snippet Mill raps, ("When I was saying sh*t about the rhymes you ain't wrote / I can't wait 'til we run in ya / I'ma put a gun in ya.")
The beef began this past summer, when Mill asserted that Drake had used a ghostwriter on his verse for the song "R.I.C.O." The track was part of Mill's Dreams Worth More Than Money album and the accusation exploded into a full-on diss war between the two in rap verses. Drake then went on to release "Charged Up" and "Back to Back," which both were pointed directly at Mill. Meek's answer track, "Wanna Know," was subsequently removed from Soundcloud soon after it appeared.
