David Bowie Blackstar Instagram mini-series will air this week. His final album was released two days before his death on Jan. 8, which also happened to fall on his 69th birthday. This past fall, Bowie reportedly granted the channel, called InstaMiniSeries, an insider’s look at his album before it was released so that they could create UNBOUND: A InstaMiniSeries. Six Feet Under star Patricia Clarkson will be featured in the series.

The series consists of 16 episodes and will premiere on Thursday evening (Feb. 15) at 8 p.m. EST. UNBOUND: A InstaMiniSeries will star the founder of Rookie Magazine, Tavi Gevinson, and Patricia Clarkson amongst others. The series will air episodes each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The series was written by producers Nikki Borges and Carolynn Cecilia and it was co-produced by Lawrence Peryer.

A press release reported by Pitchfork shared, “UNBOUND: A InstaMiniSeries takes its audience on a journey of evocative images inspired by the moods suggested in the album’s music, lyrics and artwork. The series is propelled by a focus on this visual interpretation of the album as opposed to a literal, linear narrative.”

The production on UNBOUND: A InstaMiniSeries finished up this past December but it is not known if Bowie had seen the completed product before his death on Jan. 10. It is known that Bowie acknowledged the InstaMiniSeries as a legitimate medium to channel his works.

In a statement to Rolling Stone the writer and producer of UNBOUND: A InstaMiniSeries, Carolynn Cecilia said, “David Bowie was a trailblazer, not just in the world of music, but in the art of storytelling. Whether through lyrics, melodies, film, theater or mythical persona he never fails to transcend WHAT WAS and set the tone - and the bar - for what CAN BE. As storytellers and music lovers, who better for us to be inspired by than David Bowie.”
