Bob Dylan Announces Tour With Mavis Staples, New Album ‘Fallen Angels’

Bob Dylan announced that his 37th studio album, Fallen Angels, is due out sometime this year. Following a brief tour in Japan this April, the 74-year-old folk icon will hit the road with legendary R&B and gospel singer Mavis Staples for a 27-date U.S. tour throughout June and July.

The upcoming tour marks a reunion for the two music legends who dated briefly in the 1960s. Staples recently reminisced about the time Dylan proposed to her: "He was cute. But I said 'Bobby, we're too young. I don't even know how to cook yet,'" USA Today reports.

Listen to the pair duet on "Gonna Change My Way of Thinking," below.

In addition to supporting Fallen Angels, which does not yet have a release date, the tour will be in support of Staples' new album Livin' On A High Note, which dropped in February. The Chicago-born singer won Best American Roots Performance at the 2016 Grammys

Fallen Angels follows Shadows in the Night, Dylan's 2015 album of Frank Sinatra covers. Additionally, the twelfth volume of the singer-songwriter's Bootleg Series, featuring previously unreleased studio recordings from 1965 and 1966, dropped last November.

The new album and tour announcements come after last week's news that Dylan's extensive personal archives--including manuscripts, correspondence, notebooks, photographs, audio tapes, film footage and other memorabilia--would find a permanent home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, New York Times reports. The collection will be open to the public for scholarly study after a few years of cataloging and digitization.

According to the folk singer's website, fans who purchase a pair of tickets will receive a redemption code for a copy of Fallen Angels. Check out the tour dates below:
