The Weeknd & Daft Punk's hit single "Starboy" has been held off from the top spot on the Hot 100 charts by the absurd reign of The Chainsmokers "Closer," but that has not stopped the song from becoming one of the most popular in the country. Norwegian DJ, producer Kygo, has now remixed it.

Thankfully, Kygo doesn't go full tropical on the song and break out the few notes that appear on most of his past remixes. He showed on Cloud Nine there was some growth in his music and that continues with this remix.

He keeps The Weeknd's lyrics about the trappings of fame including the futuristic effects put on his voice in the hook. The instrumental isn't changed all that much either, but there is certainly a chiller vibe to the whole song.

In the verses, he tones down the radio-friendly nature of the track with soft piano and percussion, while adding some claps to the hooks.

Kygo doesn't do anything too radical to the song, but generally makes it more soothing. Some songs that are already hits don't need that much to be done to them and Kygo has found a way to adapt the song to his soft brand of house music, while still keeping the integrity of the original intact.

The collaboration between Daft Punk and The Weeknd came as a surprise to just about everyone. However there could be another song on The Weeknd's upcoming album Starboy, slated for release on Nov. 25 between the two. Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, he revealed that two songs came from their time together.

"The remarkably spontaneous sessions yielded two songs on the album," he said.
