Elton John has denied that he will be performing at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration this upcoming January.

During an interview with BBC’s HARDtalk, Trump advisor Anthony Scaramucci had said John would be performing an in effort to show the presidential support for LGBTQ rights.

“This will be the first American president in U.S. history that enters the White House with a pro-gay rights stance,” Scaramucci said on the talk show. His statements completely disregarded the fears of many in the gay community and he further said, “Elton John is going to be doing a concert for the inauguration.”

The report that the openly gay singer and pianist will be performing at the inauguration is just the latest lie from Trump’s camp. John’s team swiftly confirmed the Pitchfork that the rumors were untrue in an email, simply writing, “This is incorrect. Elton will not be performing at Trump’s inauguration.”

The rumor came as a surprise to everyone, as John was an avid Hillary Clinton supporter during her campaign. This past March, he performed along with Katy Perry at an “I’m With Her Concert” at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

“We need a humanitarian in the White House, not a barbarian,” he said at the time and said that she stands for “equality, decency, kindness and respect.”

A report had gone out that Vince Neil of Motley Crue would be playing the inauguration, but he has since said that he was “uninvited” from the ceremony shortly after. Reportedly RiFF RAFF had said that he’d be willing to play the event for $50,000, although he was not invited.
