Emma Swan, played by Jennifer Morrison, will be returning to the upcoming new season of “Once Upon a Time” in what is expected to be an emotional reunion with Hook (Colin O’Donoghue. EP Adam Horowitz says that Emma’s story will be getting a satisfying closure.
In last season’s “Once Upon a Time” finale, Morrison exited the series. But, she will be back to reprise the role in episode 2 titled “A Pirate’s Life.” The episode is said to be centered on Hook but other details are being kept tightly under wraps.
Horowitz teased, “We get to find out what has happened with Emma and Hook since our happy ending we showed last year.” The EP calls Emma’s return as an emotional curtain call according to Entertainment Weekly. He assures the fans of the fan-favorite couple not to be worried but to watch the episode where everything will be explained. Co-creator Edward Kitsis adds, "We are very cognizant of the passion.”
The coming seventh season of “Once Upon a Time” will have a soft reboot and will embark on a new chapter. Six of its regular cast members will not be returning while another three will be sticking around with new identities. Aside from Morrison, Jared Gilmore and Emilie de Ravin have confirmed to return for at least one episode.
The past seasons of “Once Upon a Time” centered on the story of Emma, the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming. She has an estranged son, Henry, who attempted to lift the curse on the characters living in Storybrooke.
Although there will be no retelling of season one, Kitsis says there will always be “echoes.” The action also will shift from sleepy-town Storybrooke to Hyperion Heights, a Seattle neighborhood. There, the fairy tale characters will be interacting with regular people unlike in Storybrooke.
Regina (Lana Parilla) will have the new identity of a curly- haired rocker named Ronnie reports The Hollywood Reporter. Hook will now be a uniformed cop with good heart. He will have a fake hand since “there’s no hook in Seattle” according to Kitsis.
Meanwhile, Rumple’s (Robert Carlyle) new persona still remains a mystery. This should be one of the things to watch out for when “Once Upon a Time” returns on October 6, Friday, on ABC.
