Throughout her career, Beyoncé has always been known to have long and cury hair with a specific shade of blonde that her fans loved and adored, that's why nearly 10 years ago, the public was shocked when she debuted a pixie cut.
More recently, the musician reflected on her massive hair transformation in 2013 and revealed that there was a significant meaning behind her hairstyle.
The singer, who just dropped two new country songs titled "Texas Hold 'Em" and "16 Carriages," spoke with Essence for an interview where she recalled her short hair, saying it was a spontaneous decision as she decided to cut all of her hair off randomly.
"I didn't have a particular style in mind. It wasn't an aesthetic choice, but it was a very big emotional transformation and metamorphosis that I was going through," she explained.
Beyoncé's Pixie Cut was a Form of Rebellion
Elsewhere in the conversation, the singer further discussed that the length of her hair often defined her as a performer as she's been known to having long locs or massive curls, but when she finally chopped her hair off, it was a form of rebellion.
"Cutting my hair off was me rebelling against being this woman that society thinks I'm supposed to be," she said. (via People Magazine)
Beyoncé added that she had just given birth to her eldest child, Blue Ivy, at the time and it was about feeling liberated and becoming a mother made her want to shed all of her hair.

She also ntoed that it was a physical representation of her shedding the public's expectations from her.
Although she felt free with the transformation, her hairstylist, Neal Farinah, was very surprised with her move because her hair at the time was "really long, really thick and really healthy."
Beyoncé Became Very Brave Upon Chopping Her Hair
At the time, Beyoncé said she just grabbed the scissors and chopped it off without any expectations and it was very intentional for her.
For the singer, it was what she needed to do and she didn't regret anything because she became super brave after it.
She also noted that it was her first step to "many more audacious decisions" that she made not only for herself but also for her career and it was a big factor of who she is in the present.
