Disco musician and disability activist Cola Boyy had died at the age of 34.

The famed "disabled disco innovator" - born Matthew Urango - died on Sunday, years after he debuted in the industry. His label, Record Makers, and his manager, Jack Sills, issued separate statements to honor the late musician and activist.

Cola Boyy Dead at 34

On X, Record Makers posted a photo of Cola Boyy and wrote a heartfelt message to its late artist.

"The one and only Cola Boyy a.k.a Matthew Urango has passed peacefully last Sunday. He was quite a soul, a man with no age, a childlike spirit with the musicality of an old legend," the label captioned the post. "His lyrics, his melodies, the sound of his voice: every side of his music was unique and timeless."

Record Markers also expressed its love for Cola Boyy as it also sent the same to his bereaved family and friends, adding that his "music and power will remain."

Meanwhile, Sills called him "one of the most talented and down-to-earth people" he had ever met.

"His humor and natural charisma endeared him to whoever he met. Matthew cared enormously for his family, friends and community, which he often expressed through his music," Sills wrote on Instagram.

The manager confirmed Cola Boyy's new album, which he just finished before his passing.

Cola Boyy's cause of death has also yet to be confirmed as of press time.

Fans also left heartfelt messages in the comments section as they paid tribute to Cola Boyy. Others also uploaded their tributes on their social media accounts.

A Look at Cola Boyy's Legacy

Cola Boyy started his career in 2018 when he released his EP, Black Boogie Enon, at the time. One of its tracks, "Penny Girl," scored the No. 72 spot in Fader Magazine's 100 Best Songs of that year.

Following his album's success, he began touring and collaborating with other musicians and artists, including Nicolas Godin and MGMT.

The Avalanches also tapped him to join the band in its 2020 single, "We Go On," as part of its third studio album, We Will Always Love You.

Cola Boyy released Prosthetic Boombox in 2021 while also establishing his works as a disability-rights activist and advocate for people of color through the groups Anarchist People Of Color and Todo Poder Al Pueblo.
