Ann Wilson of Heart takes performing seriously. She wants to connect with her audiences during her performances, so she doesn't like it when people use their phones when she's performing on stage.

The musician recently appeared in an episode of the Broken Record podcast where she was asked how fans using their cellphones during concerts affects her performance.

"It does change things ... especially when [fans] come up to the front of the stage and they turn around so that you're in the backdrop and they want to take a selfie with you as a background. I mean, that's really distracting, because you just want to sort of jump out of the way," she explained.

Although Wilson said that she understood concertgoers' desire to capture the moment on a big night out, she said she's "not a backdrop."

Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson, along with supporting musicians Ryan Waters, Ryan Wariner, Paul Moak, Tony Lucido, and Sean T Lane, are on tour on the band's Royal Flush tour, which features the supporting act Cheap Trick. The tour is set to run until the end of the year. This ongoing trek is significant because its Heart's first tour in over five years.

"I thought, well, the time is right. Let's see if we can bring back the big guns. And [Nancy] was into it. We had some negotiations to do -- who's going to be in the band, what type of a show we're going to do -- but we came to understandings and all that," she said of going back on tour.
