It's no secret that Beyoncé is a boss. Women want to be her. Heck, we'd wager most men want to be her. The international superstar is such a beast that her followers are beginning to cross over into drastically different genres of music. So when Miranda Lambert named Ms. Carter as one of her idols in a recent interview, it likely didn't shock anybody.

"One strong female artist I look up to is Beyonce," Lambert told Gibson (via Taste of Country). "She handles herself well and has such class. As far as building an empire goes-and reinventing yourself and being true to yourself-I would say Reba McIntyre and Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn are people I look up to most."

Lambert is a former reality show contestant known to pack some pizazz, so her choice of Beyoncé as a guiding light is a comfier fit than first glance might make it.

The "Little Red Wagon" singer even drops some hip-hop inspired lyrics in her current hit, including "backyard swagga" and "that's just who I be." She even had first dibs on the 2014 hit "All About That Bass."

While none of that was addressed in the Gibson interview, she did talk about her songwriting origins.

"I was 17 when I started writing," Lambert said. "My Dad is a singer-songwriter, and he plays guitar. I felt I got it from him. I just loved it. I started playing guitar, and wrote my first song, and it felt like the first thing that had ever come naturally to me. It was something I didn't have to work really hard at, whereas I had to work hard at everything else I had done. I think it's maybe something you're either born with, or you're not."

Her marriage to The Voice judge and fellow country star Blake Shelton has received plenty of (not-so-nice) headlines, but she claimed it's been a blessing when she writes new tunes.

"I think it's made it easier," she said. "I no longer write the "cheatin', burn your house down" songs as much as I once did. It's great being married to another artist. We bounce ideas off one another and give one another advice, and each of us knows what the other is going through."
