Mark your calendars for September 25--David Bowie has confirmed that he's dropping a box set, bridging the eminence of his entire career. The 12 CD or 13 LP set titled Five Years 1969-1973 gathers material recorded during the specified time period along with six remastered albums, two live albums and rare recording compilations. The 68-year-old entertainer plans to unveil a series of career-spanning material, with Five Years kicking off the idea.

The six remastered albums include Aladdin Sane, David Bowie AKA Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, PinUps, The Man Who Sold the World, and The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars. The 13 LP version of the box set will be pressed on 180-gram audiophile vinyl while the CD option includes "faithfully reproduced mini-vinyl versions" on gold discs, notes UltimateClassicRock.

Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture Soundtrack and Live Santa Monica '72 are among the two live albums featured within the box set along with a 2003 stereo mix of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, notes NME. Re:Call 1, the 2-disc compilation, will contain non-album singles, rarities and B-sides recorded between 1969 and 1973 including the original edit of 1971's "Holy Holy" and a never-before-heard version of "All the Madmen." A press release notes that Re:Call 1 will be adorned with an archival image from photographer Mick Rock.

Aside from musical spoils, the $149.98 CD box set offers a 128-page book while the $249.98 vinyl set includes an 84-page book, sharing in-depth notes, photos, reviews and ideas from producers Ken Scott and Tony Visconti.
