Beach House is full of surprises this year, first dropping the expected release of Depression Cherry, then quickly following it up with the surprise album, Thank Your Lucky Stars, and now of all possible covers, the band chose Weezer's "Undone - The Sweater Song."
It's, of course, a fantastic song, but it doesn't really fit the band's dream pop aesthetic. Beach House practically coined the genre of dream pop, which uses fantastically atmospheric keys and organ to make trippy pop music. Which is why it's so surprising the band would tackle the '90s punk anthem, which was released on Weezer's 1994 self-titled album.
Despite being outside of the band's usual sound, Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally still manage to make the song their own with some dreamy piano elements added to the soft guitar opening. Someone from the band's crew even joins them on stage for the song's screaming climax, according to Pitchfork. Perhaps the cover came about via special request from this crew member.

The band is on an extensive tour to promote all of its new music, which has received favorable reviews in the press. The dates extend well into next year with shows all over Europe and continuing to performances from the West Coast to East Coast in the U.S. Check out all the dates over on the band's website for more details.
Weezer is still going strong these days with two new singles -- "Do You Wanna Get High?" and "Thank God For Girls" -- released in successive weeks. Yet, there appears to be no forthcoming album as Rivers Cuomo has confirmed that the band has no record deal but is "doing whatever we want to do."
