Despite rumors – and hysterically obvious photos – pop punk princess Avril Lavigne is claiming that she, in fact, does touch fans during meet and greets.

The reason for Lavigne's defense is because of a series of awkward but oh, so funny photos that went viral last month that displayed the famed "Sk8er Boi" and "Hello Kitty" singer standing awkwardly next to fans during meet and greets. Reports claim, however, that fans in Brazil paid upwards of $400 to stand "somewhat near the singer and take a pic to rival Awkward Family Photos" as stated by Fuse.

So, we guess it's okay for fans to touch Lavigne, as long as their from certain countries. Sorry, Brazil. Looks like you're out!

The famed singer was recently interviewed by the Canadian radio station KISS 92.5, where she seemed to dance around the question regarding meet and greets, stating, "My fans are very frisky, actually. In some countries where we've had security breaches, it's a little delicate because of things that have happened with stuff I probably shouldn't get into."

And not stopping there, Lavigne continued rambling with, "Sometimes other people ruin it for other people. If there's been a certain circumstance prior to a meet and greet, someone sneaking into a hotel or doing some shady stuff, they have to take extra precautions when people sneak backstage and stuff. I love my fans."

Maybe that means fans can hug the pop singer? Or, perhaps a high five?
