The new year is off to a great start, thanks to a new collab track by Lana Del Rey and Børns called "God Save Our Young Blood."

The track combines Del Rey's ethereal vocals and Børns's signature relaxed, suave singing. It will appear in Blue Madonna, the new album from Børns that's out Jan. 12.

In it, both he and Del Rey sing about being "baptized in blue skies" and rolling the window down to "reach out, feel around for new life." Wavy synths smooth out the track, with steady drums and warm bass for good measure. It almost sounds like a hybrid between an anthem and a prayer.

Børns explained in a Beats 1 interview how the collab came to be. He and Del Rey actually met online via FaceTime first before meeting in person. Then, Børns began collaborating with Del Rey's sister, Chuck who, according to him, is an amazing photographer.

Chuck was involved in shooting photos and videos for the upcoming album, during which time Del Rey hung around to watch. Børns promptly showed Del Rey bits of the record and told her that he had her in mind while working on "God Save Our Young Blood," particularly because of intoxicating, airy vocals.

"I think subliminally I was trying to do background vocals that sounded like her I was trying to do my best Lana impression and she was like 'I feel like I'm already on this song' and I was like yeah that's kind of what I was going for," Børns shared.

It also helped that Børns was already a massive Del Rey fan. In the interview, he gushed about the "Lust For Life" singer, praising her vocal ability and songwriting.

"I think she's incredible she's such an amazing writer. Her voice, it's Lana's voice and when you hear it on speakers it's amazing," he said.

Blue Madonna is scheduled to be released on Jan. 12 following Dopamine, Børns's debut album that was released in 2015. Both he and Del Rey are preparing for their respective tours to support their latest albums. Del Rey will begin her LA to the Moon tour on Jan. 5, while Børns will hit the road on Jan. 17, merely days after the release of Blue Madonna.
