Music can influence our emotions. We've been moved to dance, cry, and fall in love by merely listening to a song that drives us. Not only do we listen to music to get us through a long road trip or a broken heart during a breakup, but we also hear music more often than we realize.

Every time you play a video game, watch a television show or a film, music is there to enhance the themes of our emotions. If you make music into a career, there may be some industry niches you can find that are looking for people like you.

Here are three forms of media that use music in their mediums.

Video Games

There isn't a person alive that grew up in the 1990s that doesn't know the infamous jiggle of Super Mario Bros. That catchy little tune bypassed our guards and nestled deep in the memory of anyone that ever heard it.

If you love playing Fortnite or Candy Crush Saga or even those old school games like Pac-Man and want to give video game design a go, click here. Video game design platforms give you a chance to floss those musical skills you've wanted to share with the world.

Who knows, maybe those midi tracks and keyboard sessions may come in handy, and your ditty goes viral.

Television Tunes

Sex in the City, Friends, Game of Thrones, and The Big Bang Theory all have catchy little tunes that play at the beginning of their shows. To dedicated fans, these songs are anthems of enjoyment devoted to their most loved and most cherished characters.

Each song sets the tone of what the show is about. Sex in the City features a Cuban cocktail-themed tune that has become synonymous with single women living in the big apple. Game of Thrones features an epic orchestra whose woodwind and strings foreshadow tragedy and grandioseness.

Radio Theater

With all of our tablets, phones, laptops, desktops, and whatever other devices we have, it's easy to forget about the power of radio. Radio has been on the forefront of music, advertising, and talk shows since as far back as Christmas Eve 1906.

Orson Welles' adaptation of War of the Worlds was a radio broadcast of fake news bulletins of a Martian invasion that sent the United States into a panic. Radio theatre was a huge success in American households. Although its popularity has diminished, other countries still broadcast great stories using a variety of sound effects and music. Music is also a key component in radio advertising.

Media Without Music Would Be a Mistake

The music, used by various forms of media, emphasizes the themes of the stories we are being told. If you were to remove music from the video games we play, the songs we love, the movies we watch, or the radio we tune into, it would be a different experience indeed.

Imagine watching Darth Vader without that famous sound bite that always accompanies him, or the absence of that dreamy melody of Final Fantasy VII.

Whether it's video games, radio, television, or film, music will always be the frosting on the cake of our emotions.
