Trends are the one thing that are always in perpetual change, be it in fashion, style, or music. The pandemic that affected the music industry in 2020 is continuing to do so in 2021. With the number of COVID-19 cases continuing to climb, it's difficult to predict when the situation will return to normal. Major sources of revenue for musicians are concerts and other live events. With today's resections on public events, live shows are essentially non-existent. However, musicians like hip-hop sensation Matteo Belcastro have managed to stay connected with their fans through social media and music streaming platforms.

Belcastro was one of the few musicians who predicted how the music industry would change due to the pandemic. According to Belcastro, the industry will see 10 other prominent changes in 2021. Here are Belcastro's 10 predictions on the upcoming trends in the music industry:

1. Investment in marketing: Musicians and producers need to focus on advertising themselves to reach a wider audience. We will soon see more innovative marketing strategies in the music industry with artists promoting their projects on a variety of social media platforms.

2. Collaborations: Artists will collaborate more with other performers and entertainers to expand their audience.

3. Certain social media platforms will become more popular for sharing music: Even a couple of years ago, music did not receive much of an audience on virtual platforms. However, the pandemic has changed this scenario with certain social media platforms. Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube are effective and popular platforms to help artists connect with their audiences.

4. More drive-in concerts: The pandemic has restricted travel and resulted in bans on conventional live shows to prevent crowds. Since then, musicians have found a way to engage their audiences with drive-in concerts.

 5. Innovative compositions: More songs will start being composed by multiple people as opposed to individuals. This way a song will receive input from a mix of talented people before it is released.. Lyrics in general will become more grounded and modest to help listeners better connect to the songs.

6. Social media promotions: Music marketing will see a great deal of change with the future involvement of not only the musician and his or her team but also digital marketing companies and social media influencers.

7. More singles: Going forward, musicians will shy away from releasing entire albums. Instead, they will release singles much more frequently to keep audiences hooked.

8. Strict rules at live concerts: Even after the situation returns to normal, live concerts will never be the same. There will be strict rules set in place to protect people's health and prevent the spread of illness.

9. TikTok will lose popularity: With too many musicians crowding on TikTok for attention, the platform will soon become oversaturated.

10. More frequent releases: As the competition on virtual platforms rises, musicians will try harder to keep their audience engaged. To that end, musicians will be more likely to release new projects with greater frequency.
