When life gives you lemons, make lemonade (this is coming from someone who likes both lemons and lemonade). Maggie Björklund has two things going for her: A) She has an amazingly Scandinavian name and B) she plays pedal steel guitar in Jack White's backing band. Jack White is one of the most in-demand live acts at the moment, and backing band members know that when the headliner is doing well, they should take advantage.

Björklund has released a solo album previously but it's safe to say that she didn't have as impressive a platform to make the announcement from last time. The guitarist announced that her second solo trip, Shaken, will be released on October 14 via Bloodshot. The album will primarily revolve around the performer's experience caring for her mother who recently passed away. Björklund released an instrumental track titled "Lost At Sea" from the album, which clearly displays sorrow going on (you can check out that track at the bottom of the page).

She's enrolled a solid backing band of her own for Shaken. Jim Barr of Portishead will play upright bass, Sparklehorse producer John Parish will play guitar and Barb Hunter will handle the cello.

White is on a short break from touring, which Björklund is taking advantage of to play a few solo dates herself. You can catch her...if you live in Europe. If that happens to be the case, check out the dates below:
