The long wait is over! Björk is back with a new album and she finally unveiled the possible release date, title, and the inspiration behind her highly-anticipated project.

According to NME, the upcoming album is titled "Fossora," which is set to hit record stores and music streaming platforms starting this autumn.

Speaking to The Guardian, the Icelandic songwriter opened more about the inspiration behind some of the songs, saying two tracks titled "Sorrowful Soil" and "Ancestress" are tributes to her late mother, Hildur Rúna Hauksdóttir."

She noted that her mom died early and she and his brother were not ready to let her go as they thought she would still survive for another 10 years.

"We were like: 'Come on,' and getting her to fight and ... and it was like she had an inner clock in her and she was just ready to go," she said.

Björk Shares More Details About 'Fossora'

The interview featured the official album art of her upcoming album. It was described as "a glowing forest sprite, her fingertips fusing with the fantastic fungi under her hooves."

Björk will not be alone on her album as she's expected to be joined by collaborators Serpentwithfeeta and Gabber Modus Operandi from India.

Her son and daughter, Sindri and Doa, are said to have contributed something to the album as well.

This was not the first time the singer teased about her new album as she said last year that her upcoming project is for people "making clubs in their living room" during the pandemic as bars were closed.

Describing the vibe and sound of the new album, the songwriter said it's like being "a man who was headbanging, then sat down again and had another glass of red wine, and everyone is home by 10 o'clock, done with the dancing and everything."

Regarding the placements of the song, Björk said there will be many "chill" songs in the first half that turns into calm until club music towards the end.

Most songs are said to be 80 to 90 beats per minute because it is her calculated speed of walking.

Her last album "Utopia" was released in 2017. The record was produced by Arca and was dropped through One Little Independent Records in the United Kingdom and The Orchard Enterprises in the US.
