People reports that Céline Dion has postponed all of her upcoming performances in order to care for her ailing husband. The "My Heart Will Go On" singer has been forced to postpone her residency at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, as well as cancel the entirety of her Asian tour, due to her husband René Angélil's battle with cancer.
"I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children," Dion told People. "I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support."
Last December, Angélil, 72, had a cancerous tumor removed from his throat, and as a result of his health issues, he stepped down as Dion's manager this past June. People points out that Dion, 46, has too been struggling with her health as of late, suffering from an inflammation of her throat muscles, which forced her to cancel her Caesar's Palace performance on July 29.
"Since René's surgery last December to remove a cancerous tumor, it's been a very difficult and stressful time for the couple as they deal with the day-to-day challenges of fighting [Angélil's] disease while trying to juggle a very active show business schedule, and raise their three young children," reads the statement posted to Dion's website. "Céline and family have requested that their privacy be respected at this time."
