Taylor Swift got all that it takes to star in "Les Misérables," but her dream ended up being a nightmare.
"Les Misérables" is a 2012 film based on Victor Hugo's French novel of the same name. The $61 million-worth movie became a box office hit, earning a total of $441.8 million.
The movie presented A-listers from the industry, and Swift almost became part of it if it was not for an incident that made her push herself away from the opportunity.
The "I Knew You Were Trouble" hitmaker recently sat down as a guest on "The Graham Norton Show" on Friday, where she met Eddie Redmayne, a cast member of the 2012 film.
Taylor Swift Had a Nightmarish Encounter With Eddie Redmayne
Swift recalled meeting him during a screen test for the film adaptation and how she decided to leave the potential roles. According to her, she had the look of Cosette and could reach the range of Eponine.
Although she knew she probably would not be tapped to become part of the movie, she still proceeded with the screen test to meet Redmayne. At that time, the actor had already confirmed his appearance in the film after scoring Marius' role.
Swift, on the other hand, wanted to fulfill her fangirl dream instead since Redmayne was one of her favorite actors.
But far from what she was expecting, the singer arrived in London without having a glamorous cinema experience.

"When I got there, they put me in full 19th-century street-urchin costume and told me they were going to paint my teeth brown, and I was like, 'You are going to do that after I meet Eddie Redmayne, right?" she said. "They made me look like death and it became a nightmare. When I met Eddie I didn't open my mouth to speak!"
Although Swift did not make it to "Les Misérables," she won the opportunity to work with the director in the 2019 live-action movie for "Cats." The "Look What You Made Do" starred as Bombalurina.
The same year of release, Tom Hopper told Vulture that he was very close to casting the singer as Eponine in "Les Misérables." However, he realized that she did not fit the character who gets overlooked.
Instead of Swift, British actress Samantha Barks got the chance to play the role.
