It was recently revealed that Taylor Swift and her boyfriend of six years, Joe Alwyn, called it quits.

This followed previous news of their difficulties working through "personality differences" and a few rough patches.

A source close to them reported that they had decided not to fix their relationship.

An insider told People magazine, "They've had rough patches before and always worked things out, so friends thought they would take some time apart but eventually come back together."

The two were "ultimately" incompatible, despite being first spotted together in May 2017 while the "Anti-Hero" singer was between projects. The source noted too many discrepancies in their personalities for them to make things work.

At the beginning of their relationship, when "Reputation" tour just ended, they shared plenty in common, creating a safe and secure environment to fall in love.

The source added that then came the pandemic, which had an opposite effect; instead of isolating them from one another, it brought them closer together as it gave them a chance to bond further while being locked down.

It reportedly allowed them time for even more growth and strengthening within their relationship.

Their source observed that the British actor and the Grammy award-winning singer were so enclosed in their world that they did not understand one another outside of it.

This close-knit allegedly environment provided an ideal platform for both to work together on a trio of albums- "Folklore," "Evermore," and "Midnights"; for which ten songs were co-written and co-produced between them.

Is This The Reason For Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn Breakup?

The creative partnership between Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn was highly praised, but according to the source, one had difficulty accepting the other's fame and success.

The "Lover" singer's worldwide fame became too difficult for the "Mary Queen of Scots" actor to come to terms with.

It has been increasingly difficult for the couple. An insider claims that "the differences in their personalities have only grown more obvious over time, making it hard for them to stay together."

The source also mentioned, "The attention from fans and press surrounding Taylor's fame has been a major factor in the couple's struggles."

Recently, there had been reports that the ex-couple had discussed marriage within the last few months; however, in spite of this, their opinion differences proved to be too large an obstacle for them to overcome.
