Gavin Rossdale opened up about his "brutal" songwriting process after dropping his latest studio album with Bush.
The British alternative rock band marked its return with the ninth studio album, "The Art of Survival," in October 2022. It serves as Bush's latest album after 2020, "The Kingdom."
Among the albums the band created so far, the latest music project is considered one of the best creations due to its heaviness.
Gavin Rossdale Shares Creative Process While Writing Songs
On Wednesday, Rossdale had an interview with Chuck Armstrong for the latest episode of "Loudwire Nights," during which he spoke about Bush's new album and his songwriting process.
He explained that the lyrics of "The Art of Survival" was heavy enough as it was matched by the heaviness of its accompanying music. For the frontman, making heavy music surprised fans and critics who did not expect a band like Bush to get heavier years after its debut.

Aside from being excited about what the heaviness of the band's music can bring, Rossdale also credited his songwriting for keeping him sane; still, he described the whole process as something brutal.
"I have a terrible process where I have to beat myself up and destroy myself just within an inch of never doing it again and then suddenly I find something. I'm a moody guy who finally gets happy," he said, adding, "It's like torture. I can't get out of the way of myself. My ego is crushing me and then I think of something and I'm like, 'Cool. I got it.'"
Rossdale soon shared how he likes humility more than confident and loud people as they reportedly show nothing but imposter syndrome.
Gavin Rossdale To Offer Heavier Music
Bush will show more of what the band has to offer once it releases the deluxe edition of "The Art of Survival" on June 9.
The upcoming version will introduce new songs, including a new version of "1000 Days" with Evanescence's Amy Lee and the newly-released track, "All Things Must Change."
Instead of focusing on the deluxe version's development, Rossdale opted to focus on the music instead, as he and his band are yet to finish telling everyone about the record.
With that, he said he would pour all of his into Bush, especially since he does not want to do a solo record and have his name the center above all else.
