The Queen of Rock and Roll, Tina Turner passed away at 83 years old. Per reports, the music icon died at her home in Küsnacht, Zurich, Switzerland. Tina Turner's cause of death has been attributed to a bout of long illness starting from a decline in intestinal cancer in 2016.

As tributes for the trailblazing legend poured on social media, Angela Bassett, the actress who portrayed the singer in the 1993 biopic "What's Love Got to Do With It" revealed the final words that Turner told to her in celebration of her outstanding portrayal.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-nominated actress reflected on the impact that Turner brought to everyone's life.

Per the "Black Panther" actress, Turner's courage in telling her heartbreaking story of suffering under Ike Turner, "showed others who lived in fear what a beautiful future filled with love, compassion, and freedom should look like."

Turner detailed the domestic abuse she suffered at the hands of her late ex-husband, Ike Turner. In a 2018 interview with The Sunday Times, Turner revealed the heartbreaking moments she had to withstand throughout the years. This inspired the 1993 biopic in which Bassett starred.

According to Bassett, these are Turner's final words to her:

"Her final words to me - for me - were, 'You never mimicked me. Instead, you reached deep into your soul, found your inner Tina, and showed her to the world,'" she said in a statement. "I shall hold these words close to my heart for the rest of my days. I am honored to have known Tina Turner."

In addition to these, Bassett confessed that she was "humbled" to portray the strong woman in a well-revered movie.
