Disney's "The Little Mermaid" live-action film has been successful at the box office as it already earned millions of dollars during its opening. However, there has been an issue surrounding the movie as many people have been leaving negative reviews, leading IMBd to issue a warning.
According to Deadline, the movie amassed a whopping $95.5 million during its three-day opening and is expected to go earn $117.5 million on its fourth day.
Regarding the global box office, it's estimated to have earned $163.8 million through Sunday.
'The Little Mermaid' Amassed Unusual Negative Reviews
Despite having a 95% verified audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, there have been several websites in countries like Korea, France, Mexico, and more, that were "review-bombed" after some users claimed they have already watched the movie.
IMDb websites in the UK, Brazil, Mexico, and France's AlloCiné already issued a statement regarding the matter as the reviews were deemed questionable and it is believed to be the work of trolls.
"Our rating mechanism has detected unusual voting activity on this title. To preserve the reliability of our rating system, an alternate weighting calculation has been applied," an IMBd warning reads as reported by the outlet.

The website further explained that they accept and consider votes from users, but whenever an unusual activity is detected, they would be undergoing an "alternate weighting calculation" in order to have reliability on their system.
As of this writing, IMDb has yet to reveal which type of method they are using in order to resolve the problem.
In Germany, the Disney live-action film shockingly received .7/10 ratings on the Moviepilot website, which is considered to be lower than its competitors. However, the rating became 5/10 over the weekend.
'The Little Mermaid' Nearly Perfect Score on Rotten Tomatoes
In early reports, the movie received 95% audience score with over 1,000 verified audience critics and most of them praised Halle Bailey for her role as Ariel.
Compared to other Disney live-action movies, "The Little Mermaid" is tied with "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil" with the same rating. On the other hand, other films like "Aladdin" got 94%, "Beauty and the Beast" with 80%" and more.
The lowest one was "Mulan" with 47%.
Aside from Halle Bailey, other artists featured in the film were Jonah Hauer-King as Eric, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, and many more.
