Taylor Swift is one of the most important entertainment stars right now worldwide so it's not actually surprising that she gets invited to join prestigious organizations like the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

For those who are confused, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is the same award-giving body responsible for the Academy Awards.

Taylor Swift Invited To Join Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

Music and film have always been interconnected. Like any other big stars in Hollywood right now, one has already lent their music to the silver screen at one point.

In the case of Taylor Swift, she has contributed a lot to cinema too because of her music. Notably, her song "Carolina" from "Where The Crawdads Sing" was one of the supposed frontrunners at the 95th Academy Awards last year, but fell short of being nominated. She was instead nominated for Best Original Song at the Golden Globe Awards.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Taylor Swift has been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, along with other Hollywood stars.

Academy Award winners David Byrne, Ke Huy Quan, and The Daniels, were also invited. Among included in the list were Paul Mescal (Aftersun), Keke Palmer (Nope), Dolly De Leon (Triangle of Sadness), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), The Weeknd (Avatar: The Way of the Water), Bill Hader (The Skeleton Twins), Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All At Once), Austin Butler (Elvis), Selma Blair (Hellboy), and Nicolas Hoult (The Favourite), among many others.

The publication noted that if all the 398 people who were invited this year, including Taylor Swift, the Academy will now be composed of 34% female, 18% non-white, and 20% non-Americans, leading to a more diverse group of people.

"The Academy is proud to welcome these artists and professionals into our membership. They represent extraordinary global talent across cinematic disciplines and have made a vital impact on the arts and sciences of motion pictures and on movie fans worldwide," Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang said in a joint statement.
