The Sanitation Department has proved to be an "enemy" of Taylor Swift.

For the past two years, the "Lavender Haze" singer has been slapped with hefty fines due to her apparent negligence on the upkeep of her $18 million Tribeca townhouse, located at 153 Franklin Street.

According to city records seen by The New York Post, she now owes a total of $3,010 from 32 separate violations.

Despite her massive net worth of $570 million and highly demanded tours, the pop star did not shy away from using her funds and lawyers to fight off small fines. Amazingly, she was able to reduce the charges by a total of $200.

From early 2018 to the start of 2023, Taylor received multiple violations from Sanitation inspectors for her lack of upkeep in the area surrounding her building.

This included failing to clean up debris, having a filthy sidewalk, and improperly discarding waste.

In the years since, the street has been blighted with detritus including newspapers and cardboard boxes; napkins, wrappers, and discarded ashtray contents; and even a cigarette carton - as evidenced by summonses.

Although only a few cigarette butts could be seen scattered in front of the 27-foot-wide townhouse, a 22-year-old dog walker claimed that the owner of the property "doesn't care about leaving trash out."

In regards to the Grammy award-winning singer's priorities, he continued, "I think [the owner] is more focused on her multi-million dollar tour that's bankrupting all her fans."

Once home to International Monetary Fund director Dominique Strauss-Kahn, this luxurious pad has a rather interesting past.

While under house arrest in 2011 for alleged sexual assault of a hotel maid - charges which were eventually dropped - he was spending $50,000 a month renting in this building.

Having acquired the townhouse, Taylor Swift decided to make it her private entrance to the luxurious penthouse she had bought in the neighboring condominium at 155 Franklin St. She had spent a hefty $30 million on three units of this property.

Unfortunately, complaints of uncleanness were filed against both buildings and it was largely the responsibility of the condo association at 155 Franklin St. to keep its surroundings well-maintained.

Taylor holds herself accountable for the tidiness of the area outside her residence.

Some supporters of the superstar defended her, pointing out that it is likely the paparazzi and admirers parked on Franklin Street who are responsible for creating such a mess.

One fan even told the outlet and wagered a guess as to why Taylor Swift's townhouse was receiving fuss from the city. "I bet it's all those fans waiting for her and smoking while they're bored," she said with a laugh, "can you believe that? She doesn't even smoke!"
