The Imposter syndrome has been working hard on Billie Eilish lately. The pop-rock superstar recently opened up that she thought her success had already passed before she released one of the biggest songs from the "Barbie" movie.
Billie Eilish's "What Was I Made For" has been nominated for various awards and recognition through the film and music industry, an affirmation of the 21-year-old star's songwriting and performing prowess.
Billie Eilish Believes She Peaked Already
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter for The Hit Squad spread, Billie Eilish confessed that she thought success had already left her.
"I honestly was concerned that it was over for me," she admitted. "We'd been trying and it wasn't doing what it usually would do in me. I was honestly like, 'Damn, maybe I hit my peak and I don't know how to write anymore?'"
"Barbie" director Greta Gerwig and super producer Mark Ronson contacted Billie Eilish and asked her to write a song for the film. The result was amazing - the scene-stealing ballad that got women wiping their tears on a supposed light-hearted movie about a plastic doll.
"Greta saved me, really, honestly," Eilish confessed. "It brought us out of it and immediately we were inspired and wrote so much more after that."
Now, "What Was I Made For" has been nominated for five Grammy Awards. It was nominated for Best Music Video, Best Song Written for Visual Media, Best Pop Solo Performance, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.

Billie Eilish Recalls Songwriting Process For 'What Was I Made For'
Recalling her writer's block, Billie Eilish recounts the time when she and her brother Finneas were writing the said song. (via The Hollywood Reporter)
"It was just a day of nothing. It was just idea after idea after idea of just no ideas. Nothing was happening. It was the least creative," she remembered. "I was like, 'What? You think after the day of garbage we've just made, we're going to make a perfect song for something that needs something really good?"
"What Was I Made For" has received critical acclaim for her songwriting. The Fader called it a "sly commentary on pop stars 'created' for the profit of record labels."
The track has peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart.
