    Which Jazz Legend Biopic Movie Should You See? 'Born to be Blue' or 'Miles Ahead' [TRAILERS]

    When it comes to biopic movies, the film industry has to deal with a number of different projects based on the same subject, but in 2016, we have a more unique issue: two separate films about two jazz icons. Both Miles Davis and Chet Baker are widely considered the two top jazz trumpet players of all time, with many debates between music enthusiasts arguing for one or the other to be named number one. This year, Don Cheadle is making his directorial debut in Miles Ahead, a biopic on Davis. Meanwhile, Ethan Hawke is portraying Baker in Born to Be Blue, which has a release date very close to Cheadle's project. The question is: which one are you willing to see in theaters?     Max Martin, Cecilia Bartoli Win Prestigious Polar Music Prize

    One of the most influential music figures of the past three decades, Max Martin, is about to get another piece of distinguished hardware to add to his large wall of trophies and platinum records. The Swedish songwriter and producer has been awarded the 2016 Polar Music Prize, an international music award started in 1989 by the late Stig "Stikkan" Anderson of ABBA. Martin is also opera singer Cecilia Bartoli in winning the prize.

    Leo Tolstoy’s timeless epic, War & Peace, has been adapted numerous times over the years, but 2016’s BBC 1 miniseries starring Lily James, Paul Dano and more, has the attention of the world. Airing in the United States on the History Channel, this six-part series is directed by Tom Harper, who brought on his Peaky Blinders collaborator, Martin Phipps, for the show’s all-important score. The music featured on the soundtrack is a big standout for viewers, and we were lucky enough to speak with Phipps about the project and much more!

    Electric Forest 2016 Lineup: Major Lazer, Bassnectar, Porter Robinson Headline

    Electric Forest has been slowly unveiled its 2016 lineup all day through fans who were sent decorated packages with slips inside of artist named printed on them. The reveal has been going on all day with some individuals sharing the news on Twitter and Instagram, while others have made elaborate videos of the reveal. Some of the names who have topped the bill thus far include Fetty Wap, Major Lazer, Porter Robinson, Flosstradamus, Baauer, Bassnectar, Rusko going back-to-back with Caspa and many more.

    Proposed Bill for Registry of Philly Bands Threatens Music Scene

    Something pretty scary is happening in the music world, and we're not talking about Kanye West's Twitter rant. Philadelphia City Councilman Mark Squilla has this week proposed a bill that would require local and touring bands, rappers, DJs, et. performing in the city to submit their personal information to a registry for use in Police work. If you are a musician, whether you're from the City of Brotherly Love (like me!) or not, this is a huge threat to the music scene that is incredibly vibrant and exciting. While most don't think this will become a law, you should still make sure to save the Philly music scene by reading more below.

    'Suicide Squad' Composer Named: Oscar Winner Steven Price

    Suicide Squad is arguably one of the most anticipated movies of 2016, especially after the premiere of the film's brand new extended trailer earlier this week got us all excited for its August release date. Just to add some icing to the comic book film adaption, director David Ayer decided to team up with composer Steven Price again (he also scored Ayer's Fury), hiring the Academy Award winning musician for the soundtrack score. Price won his first and only Oscar (so far) for the score to Alfonso Cuarón's Gravity.

    New Orleans Jazz Fest 2016 Lineup:

    One of the largest music festivals in the United States, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has announced its behemoth 2016 lineup. The two weekend spring affair in New Orleans will host headliners such as Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young + Promise of the Real, Snoop Dogg, Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan.
