TIME Ranks Best Headphone Brands on The Market...Both Beats and Bose Deemed Overrated
TIME isn't the publication we usually go to for music news, but a recent study piqued our interest: What headphone lines are the best and what brands can't live up to the hype? You may be surprised...unless you're a hardcore audiophile...in which case you won't be surprised at all. -
Madonna and 'Rebel Heart' Trump 'Empire' Soundtrack on Albums Chart, Luke Bryan Debuts New 'Spring Break' Chapter
Yesterday we reported that the Empire Season One Soundtrack had topped Madonna's Rebel Heart on the Billboard 200, thanks to the number of additional downloads and streams that it got, allowing it to take advantage of Billboard's new metrics and top the iconic chart. However pure album sales tell a different story. While Empire edged Rebel Heart by around 9,000 copies on the 200, the opposite was true on the Albums Chart, where Rebel Heart placed no. 1 with 116,500 copies sold and Empire took no. 2 with 107,000 copies moved. -

NME Ranks Best Beatles Songs with Panel of Stars; Dave Grohl, Pete Townshend and More Voted...What Won?
"The Best Beatles Songs" is a poll that you won't see Music Times touching with a ten-foot pole. One factor is laziness: There are just so many hits from the band...sorting them would be a nightmare. However, the major reason would be our cowardice: When a band's discography is so epic, regardless of what track you place at the top, the armies representing every other single in the group's catalogue will lash out. That's why we left the task to NME, a more well-connected publication in the band's home of the UK. -
5 Musicians That 'Borrowed' Fashion Personas: Lady Gaga, Liberace, and, yeah, Natalia Kills
This week's most viral, and most infuriating video from the music world comes from X Factor New Zealand, where judge Natalia Kills simply eviscerates contestant Joe Irvine for allegedly stealing his look from her husband, fellow judge Willy Moon. 'Empire' Edges Madonna for Billboard 200 Top Spot, but Did New Metrics Steal a Landmark Accomplishment from Pop Star?
This week's Billboard 200 was topped by the Empire Soundtrack: Season 1, but it touches off an interesting battle between it and Madonna's Rebel Heart, which finished no. 2. The current Billboard metrics place Empire at no. 1 with 130,000 "equivalent" albums sold—a count that includes total single downloads and album streams as well. Madge's album only sold 121,000 "equivalent" albums but unofficial tracking of pure album sales—or what the Billboard 200 used to be based on—suggest that Rebel Heart actually sold more albums than Empire did as a whole. -

5 Songs of Rum & Coke, from The Andrews Sisters to R. Kelly, but Not Really Gloria Estefan
Pitbull and Kesha topped the Billboard Hot 100 during 2013 with "Timber," a single dedicated to drinking and carrying on accordingly. They were obviously not the first act to top the charts with a song about alcohol. In fact, 70 years ago on this day was when the Andrews Sisters dropped "Rum and Coca-Cola," the group's sixth no. 1 hit. Pitbull may not have specifically mentioned rum during "Timber" but you know that as a proud Cuban, he's got to appreciate the sentiments of the Andrews clan. Here are five songs that make the combination of rum and cola a hit.
