• Indian DJ Shot Dead For Not Playing Party Guest's Song Request

The public perception of DJs may be of pampered individuals who are paid to fly around the world and party as a glorified iTunes playlist. Beyond the sleep deprivation, flight delays and time spent producing records required to be a touring DJ (if they do it themselves), things can actually get very dangerous. One Indian DJ, Arun Valmiki found this out while working a private party at the residence of a local businessman in the torn of Bareilly in the Uttar Pradesh state, in Northern India. One guest requested a song titled "Tamanche De Disco," which translates from Hindo as "dancing with an illegal firearm." After Valmiki denied the request, the guest was so enraged that he pulled out a revolver he brought to the revolver and shot the DJ.
