Canceled Darth Maul Video Game Gets New Life at EA, Disney?
The Sith Lord, Darth Maul was arguably the best character in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, and he has since cultivated a cult following in the recently defunct Expanded Universe and other Star Wars canon. There's no denying the character has amazing commercial potential, so why did the proposed video game from developers studio Red Fly Studio, commissioned by LucasArts, and focusing on Maul in some heavy third-person fighter gameplay get canceled? Thanks to the partnership of Disney and Lucasfilm, the project was shelved, but a new Reddit AMA with studio head Dan Borth has revealed that a demo is in the works for an origin story game that will be shown to EA Games, the exclusive Star Wars gaming developer.
