K-Pop act Big Bang is coming to the United States for what Billboard is calling a "massive" tour, although by now American fans know to take that with a grain of salt. Although this is a relatively huge run for a K-Pop act across the Pacific, the entire run will focus on major markets and consist of six shows. Still, hardcore fans will take whatever opportunity they can get to check out G-Dragon, Taeyang and co., especially right after Big Bang releases its new album 'Made' during September. -
NU'EST Announces First American Solo Show for Dallas, Immediately After Toronto Kpop Con
K-Pop act NU'EST has announced its first American solo show and fans of the quintet will need to head to Texas to check the band out. The group will play at Gilley's in Dallas, and so far no other American tour dates have been announced. -
Epik High Announces 'Epic' Tour, Largest K-Pop/K-Hop United States Concert Series Since 2010
It doesn't take much to impress fans of K-Pop, or at least that's the lesson we gleaned from the Epik High tour announcement where the hip-hop/pop trio announced six North American dates for later during 2015. Billboard reports that those six dates, as minuscule as they might seem, represents the largest tour by a K-Pop act since 2010. -
SXSW 'K-Pop Night Out' Showcase Returns for 3rd Year
Legendary Austin music festival South By Southwest will be hosting its third annual "K-Pop Night Out" showcase Thursday, March 19, at the Elysium Nightclub. Presented by the Korea Creative Content Agency, the showcase features performances by a selection of South Korean pop artists, with this year's bill including Hitchhiker, Epik High (pictured above), Crayon Pop, The Barbarettes, Asian Chairshot, EE and Eastern Sidekick. Though the term "K-pop" may suggest that all these artists fall under the same genre of music, "K-Pop Night Out" boasts quite a diverse selection. SXSW describes Epik High as the group responsible for "bringing hip-hop to the mainstream in Korea," while Eastern Sidekick is described as "an edgier Korean version of The Strokes." Other styles of music that are being represented at the showcase include girl group pop (Crayon Pop, The Barbarettes), alternative rock (Asian Chairshot) and bizarre dance music (EE, Hitchhiker).
