• Dakota Johnson Wraps Up Biggest Month of Life by Hosting 'SNL'

Say what you want about Dakota Johnson -- sure she is now officially most famous for being tied up onscreen in a film that was a financial windfall in spite of not living up to its book version -- but the actress has been everywhere in the last month. Aside from finally landing on the big screen in 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' Johnson also covered 'Vogue' and was one of the more interesting red carpet interviews before the Oscars. It almost seemed fitting that she wrap up the biggest month of her life by hosting SNL, right?
  • Eddie Murphy Decided Not to Mock Bill Cosby on 'SNL 40'

While 'SNL 40' was considered a runaway success, many were left wondering why Eddie Murphy's involvement amounted to just 73 seconds of telling people to enjoy the show. It was his first time back in studio 8-H in more than three decades, so it is fair to say that nearly everyone tuning in was expecting something hilarious from him, but that just never happened. We are now learning that there was more planned for Murphy to do, but he nixed it at the last minute. According to a report by 'The Hollywood Reporter,' "Fellow 'SNL' alum Norm Macdonald posted a long string of tweets Wednesday, [Feb. 18,] revealing that he and the show's other writers wanted Murphy to play Bill Cosby during the 'Celebrity Jeopardy!' segment. The bit would involve cutting to Cosby, who would be mixing drinks in a video supposedly taped in the summer, before numerous sexual allegations against him resurfaced."
  • Tracy Morgan Declined 'SNL' Invite to Appear on Anniversary Show

"SNL's" 40th anniversary celebration seemed nearly perfect, didn't it? It felt like the producers thought long and hard about how to include everyone who made a real impact on the show and its viewers over the decades. Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin introduced a clip that was a tribute to Tracy Morgan's contribution to the show rather than the comedian making an appearance himself, and now we are hearing that he simply was not ready to return to television.
  • Jimmy Fallon, Justin Timberlake Perform Rap for 'SNL 40'

Best buddies Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake had the honor of performing the cold opening for "SNL 40" last night, Feb. 16, and they did not disappoint. The pair combined forces to run through a four-minute rap that spanned all 40 years of "Saturday Night Live," name-dropping former cast members and unleashing some of the reunion show's most iconic catchphrases. At the end, Timberlake and Fallon introduced the special with a "Live from New York, it's Saturday night!"
  • 'SNL 40' Turned Into Its Own Pop-Culture Phenomenon

"Saturday Night Live's" 40th anniversary special probably served up the best 3 1/2 hours of live television we have seen in years. So many times in recent years the legendary show has fallen so flat that many longtime viewers have found themselves wondering why it is still on the air and why they even bother to tune in each weekend. Last night's special episode reminded us all just how magical "SNL" can be, and if you missed it, well, you have lost out on a bit of pop-culture history, especially since it quickly turned into its own pop-culture phenomenon.
