• Scott Weiland Guitarist Jeremy Brown Dies One Day Before 'Blaster' Release

    Jeremy Brown, guitarist for The Wildabouts and frequent Scott Weiland collaborator, has died. The musician passed Monday, March 30, of causes that have yet to be determined. Brown, 34, was only a day away from seeing the release of his new album with Weiland, Blaster. The former Stone Temple Pilots singer announced the loss of his friend on Facebook.

The singer has been working on a new release with The Wildabouts titled "Blaster," out March 31, while also recording an album with the supergroup Art of Anarchy. The band features former Guns N' Roses guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, Disturbed bassist John Moyer and brothers Jon and Vince Votta on guitar and drums. While Art of Anarchy's debut is also due this spring, Weiland is more focused on his solo career.

Weiland spoke to 107.7 The Bone recently and said that he wouldn't be opposed to hitting the road with his other previous band, the short-lived supergroup Velvet Revolver.

    Former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland has announced the release date of his upcoming album "Blaster" as well as a string of tour dates in support of the album beginning in late February. According to an interview with "Rolling Stone," "Blaster" is set for release March 31 through Softdrive Records and will be Weiland's first album with his new backing band The Wildabouts. The tour in support of "Blaster" kicks off Feb. 22 in Scottsdale, Arizona, and finishes March 14 in Boston, though Weiland will be appearing at several festivals between March and May as well. "Blaster" will be Weiland's third solo album overall, his first since 2008's "'Happy' in Galoshes," as well as his first since being fired from the Stone Temple Pilots in 2013 — he was ultimately replaced by Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington. "'"Happy" in Galoshes' was an experimental art record, for the most part," Weiland tells "Rolling Stone." "'Blaster' is definitely a band sound: a stripped down, furry sound with a lot of space between the notes. But it's tight and to-the-point while keeping that garage rock vibe to it."
